Michal Goldman

Michal Goldman is an independent producer who has directed, written, and edited four films. Tiger by the Tail (1986) documents the campaign of a group of auto assembly workers in Van Nuys, CA to keep their plant from closing down. A Jumpin' Night in the Garden of Eden (1987) was the first American film about klezmer music. Umm Kulthum, A Voice Like Egypt (1996), narrated by Omar Sharif, tells the story of Umm Kulthum, the Arab world's great diva. Ms. Goldman spent more than two years in Cairo working on this project, after which she was eager to work on a small-scale film close to home. The result is Epiphany in Progress.

Michal Goldman got into film during the mid-1960s, working on cinema verité films about the Civil Rights Movement. She went on to work as a film editor in New York, LA, and SF, on documentaries and feature films, including The Exorcist. Her work has won numerous awards, including the Academy Award. Epiphany in Progress, which was filmed in the style of cinema verité, brought her back to her filmic roots.

Ms. Goldman grew up near Boston, MA.

Eli Chapman

Currently, Eli Chapman is developing participatory media systems that provide sustainable economic models for decentralized TV and Film producing communities. The goal of his work is to make video production and publishing a social activity and transform video cameras into social devices. His interest in emerging forms of cinema and television led him to work with media technology companies, such as AllCast (Peer-to-Peer Streaming Media), Wan Net (MPEG-7), and Javu Technologies, where he led the re-design of VideoFarm.com, the Webby-Award winning online video community.

As a non-linear video editor and/or director of photography, he has worked with dozens of directors and producers, including Steve Rosenbaum (CameraPlanet) and Michal Goldman (Filmmakers Collaborative). In addition, Eli has managed post-production operations at Boston Film/Video Foundation and Knit Media (home of the Knitting Factory). Eli has also developed a reality-based fictional film and playmaking system (involving structured games, improvisation, and rehearsal between actors, non-actors, and pedestrians). His first play, Nobody's Home, was nominated for Best New Play in Boston. Laughing, his first film, was shown across the country as part of the first Independent's Day.

He graduated from Boston University's College of Communication in 1997.
